Innovation has always been the driving force behind my practice. I am honored to announce that on May 20, 2010 we have been invited to talk at the Apple Store in Sherman Oaks about utilizing Apple technology in the practice setting.

When I first started my practice, it was critical that we start with a paperless system. From ground up, we developed the backbone for what was to become the most advanced practice in the country. The only was to do this, was of course, to use the most advanced platform on the market… Mac OS X. Apple Computer has always been known for it’s advanced industrial design and remarkable attention to detail. We can thank Jonathan Ive for his brilliant creations that withstand the test of time. These computers however are not just pretty slabs of aluminum. When you turn on any Mac computer you are greeted with the most stable and well designed operating systems available on this planet. This is because of the unwavering attention to perfection that Steve Jobs brings to this already superb company.

Mac OS X provides our practice with a reliable, easy to use operating system that eliminated the need to depend on “the I.T. guy” or to keep buying Symantec anti-this and McAfee anti-that! Amazingly, the very first computer we bought for our first practice (a 17″ iMac G4) is still operational and working! We have never turned our servers off, and never installed anti-viral software, or made a call for technical support.

I was so impressed with the Mac OS, that I took a Mac OS X server certification course to implement OS X Server in the office and now we have the power of a server client system. Apple has made it possible for the little guy to be empowered and expand their business where ever their imagination takes them. Today we have iPads for patient registration, digital xray that is accessible remotely from my iPhone, MacPractice practice management and EMR which takes the pain away from billing and documentation, and a whole slew of really cool programs that just make practicing medicine what is was supposed to be, fun!

Every doctor you talk to complains of the same thing… charts! The Mac makes this chore easy. The simplicity that the Apple platform offers a medical platform combined with the powerful applications available today make any practice that decides to switch to Mac OS instantly jump light years ahead of the competition.

I am honored to talk at the Apple Store about how we have reinvented the digital practice. Please join me on May 20th and allow me to share my resources and experience with you to further your practice and take medicine into the 21st century.

Dr. Sadrieh has been practicing and providing his patients with the most advanced and modern cosmetic surgical procedures for the foot. He has pioneered new techniques that allow patients to enjoy shorter recovery periods with no pain and an aesthetically pleasing result. His philosophy has always been to correct the structural problem in a beautiful way. The appearance of your foot matters just as much as the correction of the problem.

Dr. Sadrieh completed his undergraduate training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He then pursued his podiatric medical training at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed a 2 Year Foot & Ankle Surgical Residency at Northridge Hospital Medical Center with training in Elective & Reconstructive Surgery, Trauma & Biomechanics of the Foot & Ankle. He also completed a 2 Year Program in Wound Care of the Lower Extremities at the Northridge Hospital, Center for Wound Care.

Dr. Sadrieh has served as faculty at the Foot & Ankle Surgical Residency in Northridge Hospital Medical Center and continues to develop new procedures and stay on the cutting edge of foot surgery by being an active member or surgical societies across the country.

Although his practice is his primary focus, he is active outside of medicine. Dr. Sadrieh started the world’s first environmentally sensitive practice program called the Environmental Proactive Practice™.

His most loved innovation however, is Lacque™, the world’s first anti-fungal colored nail polish. This remarkable product provides women with a no compromise product that protects their nails from fungus, while giving them 18 hip colors to choose from. Most importantly, as with all of his projects, Lacque is one of the first environmentally conscious nail polish products that has never been tested on animals, and is “3-Free” (meaning it does not contain formaldehyde, toluene, or DBP).

It’s not often that we have the opportunity to create something new in medicine. I consider myself fortunate to have trained with the finest surgeons and to have had the opportunity to stand on the shoulders of giants in the profession; to develop the practice and services we offer today.

When I first had the idea of creating a new speciality within foot surgery, many of my colleagues were taken aback. The concept of approaching foot surgery from an aesthetic eye was something completely new, and in some circles considered taboo.

Today, it gives me great pleasure to see the proliferation of cosmetic and aesthetic practices popping up around the country. Over the past few years, I have been contacted by dozens of doctors asking about the new procedures I have developed and the concept practice we built in Studio City.

Today, the ball is rolling and aesthetic foot surgery is a reality. I find that now, more than ever, it is important that I outline clearly what I consider to be the core principles of Aesthetic Foot Surgery, and define the tenets of what is considered a true aesthetic foot practice.

It is important that our patients and colleagues understand the philosophy of the practice of Aesthetic Foot Surgery. We perform functional, preventative foot surgery that provides the patient with the shortest recovery times and best chance of outcomes based on the procedure choice and on improved functionality, all accomplished with an aesthetically pleasing result.

The last two statements are really the driving force behind an Aesthetic Foot Surgery Practice. The fundamental purpose of Podiatric Surgery is to prevent deformity, or treat deformity of the foot and ankle, knowing that certain diagnoses can lead to problems in the patient’s future. But added to this purpose, I argue, that the burden of striving for an aesthetically pleasing result is equally as important.

The modern world imposes certain social norms on women, and to neglect these as a reality is akin to living in an idealistic world where your treatment plans never consolidate with your patient’s real life. Professional women have to wear a certain kind of shoe, and what is considered beautiful in our modern society for a woman’s shoe isn’t necessarily the most orthopedically friendly design. Nevertheless, these facts are a reality and rather than hide from these truths, I decided to create simple, reliable procedures to liberate women from the unrealistic solutions that traditional Podiatry offers today.

Leaving a bunion deformity or a long toe to develop into an arthritic, rigid deformity is not the proactive and modern approach that a woman in the 21st century deserves. That is why I believe the onus falls on the surgeon to create innovative procedures that allows the young, active woman to continue functioning in the modern world; under the social pressures of wearing a certain kind of shoe, without having to wait for a symptomatic deformity to develop before there is intervention. This is the very essence of Aesthetic Foot Surgery, patients present with a problem that is unsightly, but ultimately will develop into a symptomatic deformity if left alone… prevention in the name of aesthetics.

To be a surgeon is a privilege and one that I respect with high regard. That privilege comes with a responsibility: performing every procedure with an effort to improve the pre-operative analysis, procedural decision making, technique, and post-operative management and record keeping. In doing this, we, by default strive for more reliable results, shorter recovery times, and better, aesthetically pleasing approaches and techniques. With this also comes the effort to polish every aspect of your practice and provide the patient with an experience that rivals the most technologically advanced hospitals.

In a summary, every surgeon that performs elective surgery is under the obligation to improve traditional surgical techniques, the post operative experience of the patient, and most importantly to hide evidence of surgery (i.e. incisions), leaving the patient with results that contribute to the well-being of their life, and provide them with the best experience possible during their time as a patient.

That, is what I call Aesthetic Foot Surgery.

Like every other detail in our practice, our staff is made of the finest people we could find. We pride ourselves on making the patient experience one that minimizes the headache of dealing with the insurance company and surgical planning.

Shu Shu, the director of all our locations and administrator of the Studio City office personally handles every surgical case to make sure that you have a liaison who will guide and assist you through the entire process. From making your first appointment, to after surgical care. Attention to the client is what our staff pride themselves on.

Holly, Aryan, Shu Shu, Nelida, Talin

We’ve all been to doctor’s offices that have a waiting room full of patients waiting to be seen, and staff that is less than helpful getting the client through the experience. Not in our office! We believe in concierge medicine with good ole’ fashioned courtesy. Everybody in the office is cross-trained in every task, so patients never have to wait.

Scheduling a surgery can be a demanding experience. The organization that is required to get you from the initial consultation to the operating room can be discouraging. That’s where our “one on one” philosophy kicks in. After sitting with Shu Shu and planning your experience, all you will have to do is show up to the surgery. It’s that simple. The system that we have developed in our office is centered around the patient experience, and making sure that your surgical experience is second to none is our primary goal.
