For years now, women have been subjected to wearing shoes that aren’t necessarily the best for their feet. History has shown with customs like chinese foot binding, that the well being of a woman’s foot has taken second priority to social norms and beauty. When I first started practice, I dealt with this contradiction in philosophy. As a foot surgeon, correcting deformities that cause pain was the basis of my training. But as time went on, I realized that advising women not to wear high heeled shoes, was unrealistic. This is because in the modern world, professional or formal attire requires a woman to wear high heeled shoes due to social norms and pressures. This is unfortunate but true.
Rather than isolate my practice form the realities of what women endure in the professional world, I decided to create a procedure that addresses the problems that women face when wearing high heeled shoes. One such problem is a wide foot. Bunions and Tailor’s Bunions (smaller bunion on the outside of the foot) are often the cause of pain and constant grief for women that have to wear these kinds of shoes.
The Cinderella Procedure addresses this issue with a modern, pain free, and short recovery procedure. Like my Aesthetic Bunion Correction, the Cinderella Procedure allows most patients to walk right after the procedure and be ambulatory during the post-operative period. In most cases, patients are able to be back into high heels in 4 weeks. This is a remarkable improvement form the traditional method of correcting this problem that leaves patients non-weightbearing for up to 2 months in some instances!
This procedure was recently highlighted on the CBS show “The Doctors”. Watch the clip below:

hi dr sadrieh . is there any doctor in mexico who makes this surgery ? . thanks & congratulations ,it was really impressive to see the results.
I thought that I had a bunion on my right foot. I have experienced increasing pain and have not been able to stay in my most comfortable shoes for more that a few hours. I went to the podiatrist and was diagnosed with arthritis and bone spurs in that toe. The doctor suggested that I wear a good pair of tennis shoes to work (such as new balance etc). I work in an office that this is not appealing as an ongoing solution. Can you help me?
I had a bunionectomy last dec. Now I’m in constant pain. The Dr. says it is nerve damage and I need surgery on the same foot. Do you know Dr. in Tulsa, Ok I can go to for a second opinion?
Thank you

I have bunions (right & left feet) i’ve inherit from my grandmother. Back in 1999, i had surgery done on left feet for removal of bunion but since my operation i started developing tailor’s bunion on both my feet. I never got my right bunion remove because the surgeon who complete my surgery on left feet was involved in a tragic accident. So I need to have surgury to remove the two tailor bunion and big bunion. please help or advise. do you have surgeon you can recommend in Gallup, New Mexico area. I sure would appreciate it.
I, personally, do not consider this procedure in anyway “cinderella’ish”. The need to wear shoes is pretty universal. I know I am not the only person to feel this way, either. Thanks to “The Doctors” for addressing this problem. I had come accross the term/misnomer, “Cinderalla procedure” several years ago in a fashion type publication. It is far more than a vanity procedure when you acknowledge that even so called “sensible” shoes can irritate our feet and contribute to our foot problems as well as high heels. I had a bunionectomy about 15-20 years ago, but the bunion it is back, somewhat. I was told, at that time that my feet, “splay”?? My second toe causes me a lot of pain (being longer than my big toe) probably as a result having to wear a shoe too small to keep my heel from slipping out (narrow heel) or too long and filling/rigging the shoe with pads. Now, I am developing not only soft corns on that second third toe, but moving towards “hammer toes” in both feet. I am 60, so this appears to border on vanity, then it should be noted that if neither tennis shoes, open-toe shoes, or flip flops (cause me to “grip” aggraviating the-potential-hammer-toe-syndrome), provide a comfortable solution, I have run out of options. Wish I lived in Beverly Hills (live in Houston, Tx.) but, alas, not the case. My husband thinks I need to consult an ortho, but I feel they could care less about my condition and this is not their speciality. Any recommendations? I have a couple of friends who have had “hammer toe” correction and/or second toe shortening. My original podiatrist isn’t even practicing anymore. Thankfully, I have insurance. I really would appreicate some advice. Thanking you in advance, for any response.
Again, thank you to “The Doctors” for this episode.

Hello doctor, my problem is I have a size 9 1/2 foot and it is also wide I was wondering if there was a procedure to bring my shoe size down to a size 6 and to make my foot narrow. Thank you
Is there anyone in Northern California including yourself that performs the cinderella procedure
Hi Dr. Sadrieh. Could you please explain the difference between “traditional” bunion surgery and the procedure you perform? How is it that your procedure require less healing time? Thank you in advance for your response.
Dear Dr Sadriech,
I have a genetic predisposition for bad feet, and developed bunions in my teens, and am getting hammer toes too. I am 56, and can see my Mother’s feet getting progressingly worse. She also has bunions, hammer toesand corns. Several cousins have had traditional bunion and hammer urgery with unremarkable success.
If this Cinderella procedure can prevent these conditions from progressing, I am very interested in learning about the procedure for myself. I don’t see it as merely cosmetic at all… Much pain and distortion, especially with age is evident. Is this surgery covered by most insurance policy’s. I have Blue Criss Blue Shield PPO. I live in Chicago, where many advance medical facilities reside. Can you refer me to a physician locally who has performed many of these procedures? Alternatively, can you give me a ball park estimate for performing the procedure yourself? I can travel to Beverly Hills if necessary, if you are the best Doctor for the job! I only have two feet! By the way, is the procedure permanently effective?
Please get back to me at your earliest convenience by email or mobile phone.
Thank you for sharing your expertise on this common ailment.
Yours truly,
Lauren
