Hello Dr. Sadrieh,
My name is Sherese Johnson, I am very excited about the some of the surgeries you perform. All my life I suffered because of my feet. I have 2 super long toes,my 2 second toes. I really want to know how expensive is to do the toe shorteing of the toe procedure. If you can would you email me the price range for that, because Im really considering it.
                                                                                  Thanks,

Hi Dr. Sadrieh,
I want to know more about the toe shortening surgery. Everything that I have read is that you shorten the one long toe. But I am embarrassed about all my toes. I have very long toes and haven’t worn open shoes or sandals since I was a child. As a child I wasn't bothered, my parents would say I have long toes, but as a child you don't have a care in the world. As a teen my friends use to laugh behind my back, and I think thats about when I started to wear closed shoes, and have ever since. I don’t like to go to public swimming pools or resorts, because then I’ll have to show my feet. Some days I just decide what the hell and then people start joking about my feet, and then I just don't go anywhere again. I am a outgoing person, but because of my long toes I can’t do most of the things I want to. Do you know of a surgeon that can help in South Africa? And is this an expensive surgery as I don’t have medical insurance, or have rich parents that can pay, but this would be the best thing I'll ever do for myself, just to be normal.
Thanx

Are there any doctors in the Boston area and south of Boston who perform this surgery?

Also, can this surgery be done, along with correcting a hammertoe?

Many thanks

Hello Dr Sadrieh,

Like many of the women who posted here, I would absolutely love to correct my ugly toes. For the past 9 years, I have been struggling with this issue. I can't remember the last time I wore open toe sandals in the summer. I really use to love going to the beach but now, I always have to look through my closet and find sandals that hides half of my toes. I am so ambarassed, even ashamed, by their shape and the awful corns(on 8 of my toes). In fact, my podiatrist often suggests that I undergo the surgery because he sees how bottered I am with this. Nevertheless, I am also very affraid of getting surgery because of the horror stories I have heard about.

I am a single 29 year-old, hard worker, very independent, in very good shape and this issue definately holds me back! As a women, I am ALWAYS so self-conscious about it... this not just vanity, believe me, there are days I just want to cut them off!

I live in Montreal, Canada, do you have any recommendations PLEASE? At this point, I think I would be willing to go the US... I REALLY WANT NOT TO HAVE TO BE ASHAMED OF MY FEET ANYMORE!!!!

Thank you for helping,
Marty

Dear Dr. Sadrieh,
I have a short second toe on my right foot resulting from an injury when I was 2 (49 years ago). While climbing down from a very heavy old piano bench (I had flipped over on my stomach because my legs were too short to reach the floor), I pulled the bench over on my bare foot. The visible result was a smashed big toe which required stitches. The big toe recovered and grew another toenail. The 2nd toe began to curl under as it grew. I was told it was due to a damaged growth plate from the accident.

When in jr. high, I had surgery to straighten the toe. The surgeon straightened it and fused the joints (my toe won't bend now), and now it is too short and sticks up so that the toe beside it goes up under it. When I expressed displeasure with it, I was told the only other option was to amputate it which I opted not to do. It looks hideous to me. The end of my toe is shaped normally but there is just not enough bone length. My other foot is normal.

I saw an Orthopedic surgeon 25 years ago and he told me he "wouldn't touch it with a 10-ft. pole" because it was not causing me any pain. Thinking that medical advances might have resulted in a solution, I saw another Orthopedic surgeon and a local Podiatrist last year and neither offered me any real solutions. Clipping the tendon to bring the toe down, pulling the toe out and attaching it to the toe beside it while risking permanent nerve pain did not seem like a good idea to me. The Podiatrist mentioned that there are procedures that will result in new bone growth but none that are done locally or even nearby (I live in Gadsden, Alabama). Can you offer any possible solutions? Thank you for your website and for the help you offer in this area.
Gratefully,
Emily Sims
